Flechazo Celebrating Mediterr Asia
opposite Rainbow Hospital in Marathahalli, Bangalore

Flechazo means “love at the first sight “in Spanish, But this MediterrAsian restaurant, the dream destination of food lover is there to make you fall in love again and again. Flechazo is part of Eka Hospitality group. ‘Eka’ means the one and only; the pre-eminent; it means unique; that which happens only once; that which is sincere, truthful. ‘Eka’ is unity – of thought, intent, purpose and delivery. And they are successful in delivering the unique experience through their first restaurant located opposite Rainbow Hospital in Marathahalli, Bangalore.

They take you to the gourmet food journey through their Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Italian, Lebanese, Spanish, Turkish, and Greek food. The display of hot food as well as cold food is real enormous.  Won’t be surprise if some bureaucrat of Ministry of Food and Public distribution must have visited the place and got the idea of fixing the portion size, looking at their vast display of live and counter food.

The appetizer display on conveyer belt is treat to eyes. Chaat, Sushi, Tapas, Dimsum – all score maximum in taste as well as presentation. They have enough LJs- Live Jockeys whether its Chaat counter, Pizza counter, Ice cream counter or live grill counters. So many selfie points have been created to upload your snaps on digital media. You can actually wear the apron, gloves and Chefs Cap and experience the every aspect of making Pizza- from flattening the dough to spreading salsa to adding your favorite toppings to spreading the cheese to baking it—you can do all by yourself under guidance of ever smiling Chefs.. And believe me the end result can be cherished for long long time.

Shawarma is served on your table. Murgh Malai Kebab , Mutton Roganjosh and Prawns in garlic butter are out of the world. Pan flavored ice cream garnished with gulkand was made instantly using liquid nitrogen. Not to forget the way they celebrate your birthday/anniversary.. Entire staff will dance with you and cut the cake. The gratitude on customers’ face after celebration is testimony of their appreciation about how time was spent at this place. Actually the don’t need Customer feedback form .

Staff are  big asset here. From restaurant hostess to your service partner… from Restaurant Manager to  Chefs- every one looks after you and  make you feel so special that reminds of your first visit to In-Law place just after marriage. Not sure how many young girls must been killed every day by genuine charming smile of their executive Chef. These people are genuine and all profit making airlines can take a leaf out of this place about training the staff, if they want to remain profitable for some more quarters as hospitality plays a major role after crude pricing in their bottom line.

Must visit place for quality time you want to spend by yourself or with your F&F.

16th Main, Micro layout, BTM 2nd Stage, Near Udupi Garden Signal, BTM, Bangalore

After becoming household name and replicating the success of Koramangala and JP Nagar outlet, they have opened a new food joint in BTM layout with superior and vibrant interior. Three outlets in four months, even fastest growing retail chain like Reliance Trend is finding it difficult to move at same space.

US $16 million valuation of “Wow! Momo” might be inspiration story for people in Momo business but it requires every part of your body made of steel to venture into only vegetarian momo segment where gross margin is more than 60%. To do volume, product quality has to be perfect and their expansion with current pricing is testimony of people loving their customization of products.

Their menu caters to 64 different combinations of Momos available in Steamed, Pan fried, Deep fried, Chilly, Soupy, Tandoori, Street Bhel and Sizzler formats. My favorite remains “Mushroom Onion” and “Spinach cheese corn” done in Tandoori way. The pricing range of Rs 75- Rs 140 makes them extremely popular with young college kids and Gen Y bitten by startup bug. Street Bhel falls under ‘must try’ item. The Wok maker has 25 combination. Butter garlic noodles with exotic vegetables were delicious.

Ice tea is refreshing. The raw mango tango is superlative. If you are born with a sweet tooth or its hidden somewhere in you- try their Choco Bao or Sizzling brownie with Ice cream.

QSR category is growing at compounded annual growth rate of 25% and expected to reach 17k crores by end of next year and these guys are ready to grab a big pie of it. Hope they maintain the quality of food and service standard and “MOMO JOJO” is all set to find the place in “Rhyming Words Dictionary

RAYARU’S Kitchen- An Upgraded Military Hotel

Address : 3091, First Floor, Opposite ESI Quarters, Double Road, HAL 2nd Stage,
Indira Nagar, Bangalore.

Rayaru’s Kitchen, located at Double Road, Indira Nagar got a soul of true Military Hotel but body has been upgraded to make family and friends more comfortable and spend their time peacefully while enjoying delicacy of Karnataka Cuisine.

Place is spread over three floors and apart from decent interior what impresses you most is the aquarium and variety of beautiful dark blue and electric blue fishes. You can have a hearty chat with Mr Bala Krishna, the owner of this place about behavior and food hanit of these fishes whether its Mandarin fish or its Emperor Angel Fish.

Attu Kalu or Paya soup is an authentic soup where leg of lamb is cooked into consommé like consistency using local herbs and spices. Its good source of healing fat and help is inflammation. The soup was made to perfection.

Never imagined Paddu as a non veg starter though tried so many times. Generally Paddu or  Kuzhi paniyaram (in Tamil) or Gunta Ponganalu (in Telugu) is made by steaming batter of black lentil and rice  in a special pan that comes with multiple small fissures. But this beautifully presented Mutton Paddu was made with grounded boneless mutton and it just melted in my mouth.

Akki Roti- means Rice bread and its extremely popular in Karnataka. They serve crisp Roti made with rice flour, chopped onion and coriander leaves. It was served with Tomato Gojju which had sour and little sweet taste. Coconut chutney was just finger licking.

Ragi Mudde or steamed ragi balls accompanied with Pappu was show stealer of this evening. Pappu not to be confused with Shehzada of Indian Politics but its high protein nutritious dish made with dal and fresh greens.

We also tried Veg Kothu  paratha, Bun Parotha (which is their specialty), Andhra Chiili Chicken ( you need to have heart of steel to absorb the spiciness), Sheela Fry(can give Katerina run for money) and  Donne Biryani. All dishes have come out very well. I heard Bheja fry too was their signature dishes but by the time we ordered, it was sold out.

Icing on the cake was Coconut lappa. Owner has carried forward the recipe of Pancakes filled with coconut and Jaggery from his grand mother  and it was simply out of the world. I can travel from whitefield to this place which is 14kms(not to forget Blore traffic) just to have their Coconut Lappa.
